Creating joyful committed caring communities in Christ
HABSR has a vision to empower communities to have the capacity to develop sustainable social responsibility projects with which to address the social issues within those communities.
Our new chairman, Bishop Charles May was enthroned as bishop of the highveld on the 12 sept 2015. HABSR is looking forward to having him as part of our team.
The Highveld Anglican Board of Social Responsibility was established in 2003, under the leadership of the Late Bishop David Beetge.
Until recently retired, HABSR was lead by Bishop David Bannerman, with 9 board members who administer and monitor the funds raised for the various projects. They also approve all programmes needing financial, pastoral and skills assistance.
Our new chairman, Bishop Charles May was enthroned as bishop of the highveld on the 12 sept 2015. HABSR is looking forward to having him as part of our team.
While the board is part of the Anglican Diocese of the Highveld, they seek to co-operate with community projects as well as projects established by other communities and faith organisations
With our operating principles, we commit ourselves to the following core values:-
The Diocese of the Highveld covers the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (formally East Rand) of Gauteng province and the Eastern Highveld region of Mpumalanga Province extending from Tembisa, Edenvale, and Germiston on its western border to the Swaziland border in the East – a distance of about 400km. The diocese also extends to the Kwa-Zulu Natal border in the south-east. Within the geographical boundaries of the diocese live an estimated three and a half million people.
All projects involving the Diocese financially or in terms of a monitoring role need to be assessed and approved by the board.
All funding proposals in support of the agreed projects will need the approval of the board.
The board may seek financial assistance in order to carry out its duties and support the work and programmes it approves. All funds are managed through the HABSR office and held in trust for the ministries and released according to the supplied projected monthly and yearly budgets.
